About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from vineyards in Montesommo and Neive, at 250 metres above sea level.

Grapes

The Nebbiolo is the Lampia variety.

Vinification

Harvest takes place in late September. Fermentation is in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 20 days of post-fermentation maceration.

Ageing

The wine ages 12–14 months in Slavonian oak barrels, then a further 6 months in bottle in the winery's cellars.

Tasting profile

The palate is powerful and full-bodied, led by jammy notes. The bouquet is gentle and understated, with aromas of dried strawberry and blackberry.

Serving and pairing

The wine can be kept several more years before drinking; the ideal drinking window is 2019–2030.

Vintage notes

The hot summer of 2015 gave the wine its powerful, full-bodied palate led by jammy notes.

Label / history

Annual production is 4,000 bottles. Elvio Cogno makes wines from Ravera, a notable cru in the commune of Novello. The Cogno family has made wine for four generations, working with Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Nascetta. The wines are made in a historic winery equipped with modern technology.
