About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from a vineyard in Novello, in the oldest part of Ravera, one of the key crus of the commune. An exceptional microclimate there produces excellent Barolo.

Grapes

The wine is made from the Lampia clone of Nebbiolo.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand in early October. Fermentation is traditional, in steel tanks, followed by extended skin maceration that can last up to 30 days. The aim at these stages is to bring out the character of the grapes as fully as possible.

Ageing

The wine matures for 30 months in Slavonian oak barrels, to develop a more complex and deeper aromatic profile. After bottling it rests a further 18 months in the cellar.

Tasting profile

Refined and distinctive. Its hallmark is a captivating, enveloping texture that gently and pleasantly reveals both the grape variety and the terroir.

Label / history

"Bricco Pernice" is named after a small hill where partridges build their nests. The 2020 is the final chapter in the story of maestro Elvio Cogno, which began in La Morra. The Cogno family has made wine for four generations, working with a few local varieties (Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Nascetta) in a historic winery equipped with modern technology.
