About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from La Morra, from vines trained to Guyot and facing east to southeast. The wine page characterizes the site as reddish calcareous marl with stony areas, with difficult-to-work soils whose colour varies from blue-grey to red. The 2024 technical sheet instead describes a silty clay soil with extensive limestone and rocks.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The 2024 wine ferments for 10 days at a controlled temperature. The cap is punched down and the must pumped over daily.
Ageing
Maturation lasts 6 months in used oak barrels.
Technical data
The vineyard yield is 50 q/ha, equivalent to 5 t/ha. The 2024 wine has 13.5% alcohol. Production comprises 19,090 standard bottles and 260 magnums.
Tasting profile
Youthful and initially restrained, the 2024 bouquet is led by savoury nuances of medicinal herbs, nutmeg and crushed stone, with cranberry, red flowers and sage underneath. The palate is taut and streamlined, combining bright acidity with firm, spicy tannins. Its texture is lean and silky, while the extract develops gradually across the back palate. The long, tense finish is stony and balsamic, with a firm cranberry impression. The wine needs patience, with at least 3–4 years recommended for its depth to emerge.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–18 °C. Pair with slow-cooked pork belly, serving its roasted, caramelized skin alongside a soft beetroot purée. Ageing potential is 6–8 years.
