About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The wine comes from Cannubi in the municipality of Barolo and is made only in the finest vintages. Clusters are carefully selected from the highest part of this historic vineyard. The vines were planted between 1967 and 1990.

The site combines Tortonian and Helvetian soils formed during different geological eras. This geological mixture gives the soil complexity and richness, while its high sand content contributes an intense bouquet: initially fruit-driven, then increasingly spicy with evolution.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

Fermentation proceeds slowly for 25–30 days.

Ageing

The wine matures for 42 months in traditional Slavonian oak barrels. Further refinement continues until the sixth year after harvest, when the wine is ready for release.

Tasting profile

Initially garnet red, the wine develops orange reflections as it matures. Ripe-fruit aromas are joined by spice and tobacco. Its tannins soften and become rounder with time, while slow maturation builds complexity and supports considerable longevity.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–17 °C. Available in 750 mL bottles.
