About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Persiera occupies steep south-east-facing slopes in Castelletto, within the municipality of Monforte d’Alba. The gradient reaches 50–55%, and the vineyard stands at 400–450 m. Its grey-brown to yellowish soils consist of sand layers with differing degrees of compactness, interspersed with grey sandstone.
Castelletto is a cool hill site influenced by nearby woodland and a small river. Sunlight reaches the slopes from east through south, while the vines ripen slowly. Wines from the area are characterized by flavour, elegance and medium body.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks, with maceration lasting approximately 12 days. The wine moves to barrels immediately after malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
Maturation takes place in barrels.
Tasting profile
A powerfully structured Barolo.
