About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The vineyard was planted in 1948 in Perno, in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. It lies at 350–400 m and faces east. The medium-textured soil belongs to the Lequio Formation and alternates layers of sandy marl with clayey marl.

Perno receives sunlight from the south-east and is characterised by clay-rich soils. Its wines are austere, deep and strongly structured, with a firm character suited to long evolution.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Maceration lasts approximately 12–14 days, followed by malolactic fermentation.

Ageing

The wine matures in oak barrels for 24 months. It is then racked into concrete tanks for further natural stabilization and receives six months of bottle refinement before release.

Tasting profile

A well-structured wine. The Perno character is austere and profound, with a strong personality and a solid structure that develops over time.

Serving and pairing

Pair with braised meats, game and mature cheeses.
