About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Costa Grimaldi cru in Cuneo. The vineyard lies at 305 m above sea level on marl and limestone soils. It covers just under 1.5 ha and was planted in 1962. The old vines produce a small crop.
Grapes
The grapes are a careful selection of Nebbiolo Michet, a Nebbiolo clone.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks at 30–32 °C. This is followed by 22–25 days of post-fermentation maceration, decanting and malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures for two years in 30 hl barrels made from Slavonian and French oak, followed by one year in bottle.
Tasting profile
It has an impressive tannin structure. With age, its aromas and flavours become richer and more complex, developing additional layers.
