About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Monvigliero vineyard, at 220–310 metres above sea level. The soils are rich in limestone and chalk, and the vines were planted in 1969 and 1980.
Grapes
The wine is made from a selection of the vineyard’s grapes.
Vinification
For the 2019 vintage, the grapes were harvested by hand on 11 October. Fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 27–30 °C, followed by 22–25 days of post-fermentation maceration. Malolactic fermentation began after racking.
Ageing
The wine matured for 24 months in French and Slavonian oak barrels, followed by 4–6 months in glass-lined concrete tanks and a further six months in bottle before release.
Label / history
The first vintage was released in 2018. The 2019 vintage coincided with the winery’s 125th anniversary. Its label was designed by Stefano Arienti, drawing inspiration from Giulio Romano’s images in the Hall of the Horses at Palazzo del Te.
