About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes are grown mainly in the southeastern part of Piedmont, without fertilizers. Pio Cesare owns more than 45 ha of vineyards in the region and also sources grapes from local growers.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested in early October and fermented in stainless-steel tanks.

Ageing

The wine remains in stainless-steel tanks for 12 months.

Label / history

Pio Cesare was founded in Piedmont in 1881 on the site of former stables and was named after its founder. Initially reliant on grapes purchased from local growers, the family-run estate gradually acquired vineyards in Barolo and Barbaresco.
