About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc come from family-owned sites with different exposures across the Langhe. The vineyards occupy elevated positions with cooler climatic conditions.
Grapes
Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation begins in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine rests for a few months partly in stainless-steel tanks and partly in French barriques. New oak accounts for one third of the barriques.
Tasting profile
Savory, spicy and fruit-driven aromas are complemented by a delicate touch of vanilla. The profile is marked by pronounced minerality and the capacity for long ageing.
Label / history
First produced from the 1990 harvest, “L’Altro”—“the other”—was conceived as a younger, more immediately approachable counterpart to Piodilei. It expresses the Pio family’s interpretation of a Langhe white wine.
