About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown in several villages across the Langhe, in vineyards with different exposures. The wine brings together varieties traditionally associated with the Langhe and international varieties.
Grapes
Nebbiolo, Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
Vinification
Fermentation and maceration on the skins take place in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine ages for nearly 12 months, principally in large barrels made from French and Eastern European oak. A small portion matures in French oak barriques.
Tasting profile
Fleshy fruit accompanies an intense structure, moderate acidity and rounded tannins.
Label / history
The name “Oltre,” meaning “beyond” in Italian, expresses a style that moves beyond Langhe tradition by combining the region’s characteristic grapes with international varieties. The wine represents an innovation within the Pio Cesare tradition.
