About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from two estate-owned parcels. Le Prata lies at 507 m above sea level with a south-west exposure, while La Torre is situated at 420 m and faces south-east. Their well-draining soils and elevation proved advantageous during the wet 2023 growing season. The parcels are fermented and aged independently before being combined for bottling. Vines are Guyot trained at a density of 5,952 plants per hectare, with yields of 55–60 quintals per hectare (5.5–6.0 t/ha).
Grapes
100% certified-organic Sangiovese. The wine is conceived as the younger sibling of Brunello and is made from the same vineyards; almost half of the estate's production is declassified for Rosso di Montalcino.
Vinification
Long natural fermentation lasts 40 days and is carried out exclusively by indigenous yeasts. The 2023 fruit achieved optimal phenolic ripeness, and rigorous work at the sorting table ensured that only sound grapes entered the winery. The finished wine is not filtered.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in large 30- and 50-hl Slavonian oak casks. The Le Prata and La Torre lots are aged separately and subsequently combined for bottling.

Tasting profile
Bright ruby red in colour, with aromas of red berries. The palate is broad, enveloping and soft, framed by fine tannins and good acidity. Freshness carries the wine into a long, aromatic finish.
Vintage notes
The 2023 season featured a prolonged, rainy spring that encouraged downy mildew. Targeted and timely organic treatments were used to contain it. Vineyard elevation and highly draining soils helped mitigate the pressure, although the harvest finished approximately 15% below the estate's usual annual production. Phenolic ripeness was optimal, and careful sorting retained only healthy fruit.
Ageing potential
Already approachable, the wine is expected to gain further complexity after one or two years in bottle.
