About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The wine comes from 3.9 hectares in the Montefico MGA, with south- and southeast-facing exposures. The soil is calcareous clay, and the parcels belong to the Casetta, Rocca and Vacca growers.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

The 2021 underwent stainless-steel fermentation at 30°C and 28 days of maceration on the skins. Malolactic fermentation was completed.

Ageing

Maturation comprised 30 months in oak casks and nine months in bottle. The casks used for this wine range from 25 to 50 hl. The 2021 was bottled in May 2025.

Technical data

Production of the 2021 vintage totaled 16,666 bottles.

Tasting profile

The 2021 is complex, with intense, ripe red fruit, balanced tannins and a persistent finish. Montefico typically produces elegant, complex wines with spicy fruit and a mineral, persistent finish. Its calcareous soils contribute structure and tannin, balanced by characteristic freshness and minerality.

Serving and pairing

Pair with pasta, risotto, white or red meats, and game. The expected longevity is 30 years from the harvest.
