About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Barolo Cerretta comes from the Cerretta vineyard in the Serralunga area. Variations in exposure across the vineyard contribute to the wine’s balance and complexity.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

For the 2021 vintage, carefully selected grapes were brought to the cellar, destemmed and crushed. Skin maceration lasted 8–10 days at no more than 30 °C. Malolactic fermentation was completed before the end of winter.

Ageing

The wine matured for at least 18 months in oak barrels of varying capacities. Traditional large-barrel maturation is integral to the style.

Tasting profile

Bright, lively ruby red with garnet highlights. The refined nose presents intense small red fruit alongside rose, violet, pink pepper and clove. The palate is elegant and balanced, with notable freshness and savoury, well-balanced tannins. Red-fruit notes return on the persistent finish.

Vintage notes

The 2021 season began with a mild winter accompanied by rain and snow that supplied excellent groundwater reserves. Vine growth started on schedule, although localized frost in mid-April reduced yields without harming fruit quality. Fine spring and summer weather brought seasonal temperatures without extreme heat, with occasional storms in June and July. Strong day-to-night temperature variation at harvest supported optimal ripeness and a good balance of sugar, freshness and polyphenolic maturity. Harvest took place October 12.

Label / history
