About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The technical sheet places the origin in the Langhe, while the product page specifies multiple Podere Rocche dei Manzoni vineyards in Monforte d’Alba (CN). Sustainable farming is intended to reduce fungicide use. The vines are trained to Guyot at a density of 4,000 plants per hectare, and yields are 50–60 quintals per hectare.
Grapes
A blend; the individual varieties and their proportions are not specified in the current product materials.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine ages for 24–30 months in small oak barrels before maturation in cement. Approximately 12 additional months of bottle refinement precede release.
Technical data
Vintage-dated wine with an expected cellaring life of 20–25 years. Available formats are 0.75 L, 1.5 L and 3 L.
Tasting profile
Deep ruby red with violet reflections moving toward carmine, showing good density without opacity and retaining excellent clarity. Cherry, blackberry, raspberry and blueberry form the fresh, lively fruit core. Fine black-pepper spice and subtle yellow- and red-pepper notes accompany the fruit, while the influence of wood adds complexity without dominating.
The palate closely follows the bouquet, with lively acidity and mouth-watering freshness. Tannins are vibrant, elegant and velvety rather than harsh. The wine is balanced, immediately approachable and harmonious, with the component varieties integrated into a coherent whole.
Label / history
The first vintage was produced in 1996.
