About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from 1.8 hectares of Nebbiolo vineyards within MGA Broglio in Serralunga d’Alba. The parcels lie at 330–370 m above sea level on clay-and-silt soils in which limestone predominates. The vines are traditionally Guyot-trained at a density of 4,000 plants per hectare and range from 20 to 30 years old, depending on the parcel.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand during the second half of October. Fermentation and maceration take place in 3,000–5,000 L concrete vats for 15–20 days at 25–27 °C. During fermentation, the must is pumped over twice daily to aerate it and break up the cap. Frequent rackings in steel tanks precede maturation in wood.

Ageing

The wine matures for at least 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a minimum of six months in bottle in cool, dark cellars before release.

Tasting profile

A bold, terroir-driven Barolo with seductive, harmonious complexity. Its character is intended to unfold progressively in the glass and through further ageing.
