About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

This Barolo brings together Nebbiolo from several vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba, with a combined area of 1.5 ha. The sites lie between 350 and 390 m above sea level. Their soils are limestone-based, with substantial variation from zone to zone. The traditionally Guyot-trained vines are planted at 4,000 plants per hectare and average 15–45 years of age, depending on the vineyard.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

Harvesting is carried out by hand in the second half of October. Fermentation and maceration take place in 3,000–5,000 L concrete vats for approximately 15–20 days at 25–27°C. The fermenting must is pumped over twice each day to aerate it and break the cap.

Ageing

After frequent rackings in steel tanks, the wine spends at least 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels. It then receives a minimum of six months’ bottle ageing in cool, dark cellars before release.

Tasting profile

Deep and intense, expressing the character of multiple Serralunga vineyards. Balsamic and earthy notes accompany powerful yet elegant tannins.
