About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from 0.6 hectares of Nebbiolo vineyards within MGA Prapò in Serralunga d’Alba. Situated at 300–320 m above sea level, the vineyards have limestone-and-tufa soils. The approximately 30-year-old vines are traditionally Guyot-trained and planted at 4,000 plants per hectare.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand in the second half of October. Fermentation and maceration take place in concrete vats of 3,000–5,000 L for 15–20 days at 25–27 °C. The fermenting must is pumped over twice a day to provide aeration and break the cap. The wine then undergoes frequent rackings in steel tanks before transfer to wood.
Ageing
The wine matures for at least 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels and then for a minimum of six months in bottle, held in cool, dark cellars before release.
Tasting profile
An elegant, traditional Barolo whose bold, dignified character is expressed through a full-bodied palate and powerful structure.
