About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are located in Lapio and Montefalcione, in the province of Avellino, at elevations of 500–600 metres. The soils are based on tuff, with substantial clay and marl. The vines were planted between 1968 and 1985, at a density of 2,500–3,000 vines per hectare. Yields do not exceed 3,000 litres per hectare.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in mid-October and gently crushed to preserve the structure of the berries. Cold maceration takes place at no more than 5 °C, encouraging aromatic extraction and texture. The chilled must is then gently pressed and allowed to separate naturally from the sediment by gravity.
Ageing
The wine rests in steel tanks for four months.
Label / history
The first release was in 2004.
