Storia
Foundation (1886)
Paolo Conterno founded the winery in 1886 in Ginestra, in the Langhe area. He devoted himself to growing Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto, and selected sites on the Ginestra hillside with attention to their different types, exposures and soils. Noting that some wine lovers were looking for higher-quality wines, he began selling wine made in his own cellar.
Following generations
Paolo was followed by his son Carlo and Carlo's wife, Giuseppina, and later by Paolo and Caterina Conterno.
Today
The company is led by Paolo's great-grandson, Giorgio. It owns 10 hectares of vineyards in Barolo and, since 2015, additional sites between Asti and Monferrato, where it grows varieties including Barbera, Merlot and Chardonnay.
Terroir
The winery began on the Ginestra hillside in the Langhe, where the founder selected sites for their different types, exposures and soils. The company also has sites between Asti and Monferrato.
Vinificazione

Filosofia
The family holds that a passion for growing grapes is something to be passed down; the Conterno family has done so for four generations. The founder recognized that some wine lovers were looking for higher-quality wines.
