Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from San Felice at Castelnuovo Berardenga in Siena. The medium-textured soils are predominantly calcareous marl created by the breakdown of alberese and galestro strata, with plentiful gravel and pebbles. The vines are trained to spur-pruned cordon and Guyot.
Grapes
Sangiovese and Pugnitello.
Vinification
The varieties are harvested between the third week of September and the first week of October. Each is vinified separately in stainless steel for two weeks.
Ageing
The wine matures for approximately 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.

Vintage notes
Spring 2023 brought above-average rainfall, requiring careful canopy management to limit fungal-disease pressure. Although July and August were hot, replenished soil-water reserves prevented hydric stress and the warmth discouraged insect infestations. Pronounced day-to-night temperature variation in late August and early September supported optimal ripening.
