Vineyard and terroir
The Barbera comes from a 5 ha vineyard within the I Bricchi estate, situated on the border between Castel Rocchero and Acqui. The technical sheet identifies the municipality as Acqui Terme and gives the vineyard coordinates as 44.704848, 8.419151. The east-facing site lies at 380 m above sea level and was planted in 2005. Its soils are predominantly clayey, with sandy components in the vineyard’s highest section.
Grapes
100% Barbera.
Vinification
The grapes undergo 12 days of skin maceration in steel tanks. Two manual pump-overs are performed each day. Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine is racked into steel tanks, where malolactic fermentation is completed.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in steel tanks before bottling.
Technical data
Briccomora is bottled in an elongated-neck Burgundy bottle made from amber glass exclusively for Scarpa, with the winery’s trademark embossed in the glass. Available formats are 0.75 L and 1.5 L.
Tasting profile
Deep ruby red. The bouquet combines red berries with marasca cherry, plum, and a light herbaceous nuance. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh, and moderately tannic.
Serving and pairing
Suitable pairings include mixed antipasti, grilled vegetables, tajarin with meat ragù, other pasta and meat dishes, barbecue, and chicken salad. Its stated longevity exceeds 10 years.
