About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown in the fertile soils of the Veneto wine region, a coastal area with a warm southern climate.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and gently pressed to preserve pure flavours and the freshness of the juice. The juice is quickly separated from the skins before fermentation begins. Pinot Grigio skins contain colour pigments, so this step produces a light, clear wine without unwanted harshness. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, which preserve the bright aromas, freshness and clean fruit character. Malolactic fermentation is avoided to retain the natural acidity and lively taste.
Ageing
Before bottling, the wine is stored at low temperatures to stabilise its structure.
Tasting profile
The aroma evokes warm, fruity southern air. The style is fresh and well balanced, with bright aromas, clean fruit, lively acidity and no harshness.
Serving and pairing
Best enjoyed young.
Label / history
Bolla was founded in Veneto by Abele Bolla in 1883. Its wines won a gold medal at a competition in Bologna in 1909. Its first Amarone vintage, in 1950, brought international success. In the late 1960s the American corporation Brown-Forman bought a 40% stake in the winery and began selling its wines in America. In 1989 the Gambero Rosso guide described Bolla as a "National Enological Institute" representing Italian wine around the world.
