About this wine

First produced: 1991.

Origin: Barturot vineyard, Montelupo Albese. Area: 1.90 ha. Altitude: 400 m. Exposure: south.

Grapes: 100% Dolcetto. Average vine age: 65 years. Density: 5,000 vines/ha. Yield: 50 q/ha. Training: Guyot.

Soils: shallow sandy loam, whitish, calcareous and alkaline.

Viticulture: humus, compost and goat manure; copper and sulphur treatments; mechanical weed control. Harvest in the second or third ten days of September.

Vinification: maceration and fermentation for 15 days in temperature-controlled tanks.

Aging: 8–10 months in large barrels. No filtration.

Production: approximately 5,000 bottles.

Characteristics: intense ruby-purple colour; violet, currant and black-cherry aromas; firm and full-bodied yet drinkable, with a long harmonious fruit finish.

Serving temperature: 14–15°C.
