About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown in Trentino, on a hill east of Trento at 350 m above sea level. The vineyard faces southwest, and its soils are heavy and sandy with a small amount of stony material. The vines are about 12 years old. Low-yielding clones with loose bunches that ripen evenly were selected. During the summer, bunches considered excessive are thinned to reduce yield and support quality.

Low-yielding, loose-bunched clones that ripen evenly were chosen.
Vinification
Harvest is by hand in the first half of September, with careful selection of the grapes. They are destemmed and gently pressed in modern pneumatic presses. The juice is chilled and left overnight to settle naturally, then racked. Fermentation uses selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks at 16 °C and lasts around 10–12 days.
Ageing
The young wine is racked and aged on the fine lees for several months. It is then prepared for bottling, usually in the spring.
Tasting profile
A fresh, dry white wine.
Label / history
"Heredia" comes from the Latin "heredium", a piece of land granted for special merit and passed down through generations. The word was also a unit of measurement in the agriculture of an ancient civilization. Cantina Sociale di Trento took the name to express the close link between its wines, the land and its traditions, and uses the range to make more complex wines. The winery states the Trentino origin of the grapes on the label because a good variety cannot make high-quality wine if grown in unsuitable conditions.
