About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Pinot Grigio is grown at Tenuta Corte Giacobbe, in the hills of the Roncà commune, on the slopes of the extinct volcanoes Calvarina and Crocetta. The vineyards stand at 500 m above sea level on mineral-rich volcanic soils composed of lava and tuff, formed by eruptions during the Miocene epoch around 40 million years ago. The moderate climate features marked differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures, with air currents arriving from the Alps.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand during the last week of August and carefully sorted. After destemming, they macerate on their skins for 12 hours before gentle pressing. The must is then settled and fermented with cultured yeasts at a controlled temperature of 13 °C.
Ageing
The wine rests on its fine lees in stainless-steel tanks for at least three months, with weekly bâtonnage, followed by a minimum of 45 days in bottle.
Tasting profile
Elegant, with a mineral character.
Label / history
“Ramato” means “copper-coloured” in Italian, referring to the hue obtained through skin maceration.
