About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from cool, elevated sites in the Langhe. The vineyards occupy north-facing slopes in the historic Bricco di Treiso vineyard and at Bossania in Trezzo Tinella, with Cissone in Alta Langa identified as an additional future source. The wine emerged after the Pio family had accumulated 20 years of experience cultivating Sauvignon Blanc at higher elevations with fresher microclimates.
Grapes
100% Sauvignon Blanc, vinified as a varietal wine.
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation begins in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
Maturation is divided between French oak barriques and stainless steel; 50% of the barriques are new. A long period of bottle ageing precedes release.
Technical data
Langhe Sauvignon DOC. Produced every year in very small quantities.
Tasting profile
A Langhe expression of Sauvignon Blanc marked by moderate acidity and clear minerality. Complex, balanced aromas accompany substantial structure and persistence. It is approachable on release while retaining very long ageing potential.
