Vineyard and terroir
Albesani is a historic geographical mention in the municipality of Neive. The parcel occupies the highest part of the hill, beside the boundary with Santo Stefano, at 240 m above sea level. Its calcareous-clay soil is rich in active limestone and is associated with structure in the resulting wine. Albesani received MGA — Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva — status in 2007.
Part of the plot was planted in the 1950s; its younger vines date from the 1980s and 1990s. The old Nebbiolo vines are described as approximately 50 years old and derive exclusively from massal selection.

Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The vineyard is harvested by hand in small crates at physiological maturity, evaluated through the ripeness of the seeds. Two manual selections precede vinification. Fermentation takes place for about ten days in wooden vats with a pied de cuve of indigenous yeasts, followed by traditional submerged-cap maceration lasting approximately 60–70 days.
Ageing
Approximately five years in neutral oak and concrete vats.
Label / history
Roagna has cultivated Albesani since 2014. The first listed vintage is 2014; access to the vineyard began through a friendship with the owner of historic vineyards in Neive.
