Storia
Foundation in 2002
AgriPunica was established in Santadi in 2002 through the initiative of Antonello Pilloni, Giacomo Tachis and Marchese Nicolò Incisa Della Rocchetta. Pilloni was identified with the presidency of Cantina di Santadi, while Tachis brought his standing as an oenologist; Incisa Della Rocchetta completed the founding trio.
The project was grounded in their shared confidence in the land of two estates, Barrua and Narcao. The first harvest reinforced that conviction: all three agreed that the properties were capable of producing an outstanding wine.
Le Vigne che Guardano il Mare
AgriPunica, under the corporate name Agricola Punica S.p.A., subsequently joined Cantina Santadi Soc. Coop. and Cantina Sardus Pater Soc. Coop. in the Sulcis partnership Le Vigne che Guardano il Mare. Cantina Santadi serves as lead partner.
The initiative places Carignano DOC at the centre of a coordinated programme intended to promote the viticultural, agricultural, gastronomic and cultural identity of Sulcis Iglesiente. Its activities address regional, national and international markets through territorial events, educational winery tours, professional training and retail promotion.
Terroir
AgriPunica was founded in Santadi, in the Sulcis area of south-western Sardegna. Its origins are tied to the land of two named estates, Barrua and Narcao, whose potential was central to the founders’ decision to establish the winery.
Within the broader setting of Le Vigne che Guardano il Mare, the Sulcis vineyard landscape is characterised by sites close to the sea. Carignano DOC acts as the project’s principal expression of this territory, while traditional ungrafted cultivation is widespread in the area.
Vinificazione
AgriPunica participates in educational winery tours organised through Le Vigne che Guardano il Mare. These activities encompass guided visits to production facilities, vineyard routes, explanations of the winemaking process and presentations of technologies used to improve production. Tastings are paired with characteristic foods of the territory.
Filosofia
AgriPunica’s founding vision arose from the three initiators’ shared belief in the capacity of Barrua and Narcao. Their unanimous reaction after the first harvest reinforced a project centred on translating the potential of those two estates into wine.
Through Le Vigne che Guardano il Mare, AgriPunica also participates in a collaborative approach to Carignano DOC and the identity of Sulcis. The partnership seeks to connect wine with local agriculture, gastronomy, culture and tourism while building relationships among producers, restaurateurs and tourism professionals.
