Vineyard and terroir

Cartizze comes from a vineyard on the upper part of the celebrated Cartizze hill, at 300 metres above sea level. The site faces south and enjoys broad sunlight while remaining protected from cold air currents. Ancient marine soils are rocky at depth and friable at the surface, supporting pronounced acidity in the grapes while manual harvesting preserves their natural sugars. The wider Cartizze hillside comprises 107 hectares of vines along a steep ridge. The vines are trained using traditional Valdobbiadene pruning related to the double-arched cane system.

Grapes

Glera.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand into bins in mid-September. The second fermentation lasts 30 days.

Technical data

Alcohol: 11.5% vol. Total acidity: 5.50 g/L. Residual sugar: 20 g/L.

Tasting profile

Light golden yellow. The bouquet is an expressive combination of ripe fruit, including apricot, white peach and citron, with acacia blossom. Soft and enveloping on the palate, balancing sweetness with freshness before a long, harmonious finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 6–8°C in a glass combining the narrow profile of a flute with the broader aromatic chamber of a tulip. Store in a cool, dark and dry place at 12–15°C, upright during the first year and horizontally thereafter. Prosecco Superiore is at its most expressive 12–24 months after bottling; with time, its youthful fruit-led aromas become more mature and vinous.

Label / history

Cartizze represents the meeting of the hillside’s environment, local history and human cultivation. Its elevated vineyard offers a panoramic outlook extending from the Dolomites to Venice.
