Origins\nThe vineyards of the Meirana area were already known in 971, as recorded in a document held in the State Archives in Genoa.\n\n### Founding and early growth\nBroglia (Tenuta La Meirana) was founded by Bruno Broglia. The estate became widely known thanks to the enthusiasm and hard work of his son, Pietro Broglia, who owns the estate today.\n\n### The vineyards of 1953 and 1955\nBruno Broglia planted vineyards in 1953 and 1955. Broglia carefully preserves these plantings alongside the estate's newer vineyards.\n\n### Pietro Broglia's public role\nIn 1994, Pietro Broglia was elected to the Italian Parliament as a member of the Agriculture Committee. He is also president of the Consorzio di Tutela del Gavi and was the first person in Italy to develop a cadastral register of Gavi vineyards.\n\n### Research and new clones\nAcross the estate's 100 ha of vineyards and at the winery, Pietro conducts extensive research in partnership with the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Turin and the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Milan. One research project led to the selection and certification of three new clones, planted in 2008 in a new vineyard near the winery.\n\n### Recognition\nBroglia Tenuta La Meirana wines are served at many important Italian state events and are widely exported around the world.

Vinificazione
Across 100 ha of vineyards, Pietro Broglia conducts extensive research in partnership with the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Turin and the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Milan. One research project led to the selection and certification of three new clones, planted in 2008 in a new vineyard near the winery. Broglia carefully preserves the vineyards planted by Bruno Broglia in 1953 and 1955 alongside these newer plantings. Pietro was the first person in Italy to develop a cadastral register of Gavi vineyards.
