Storia
Restoration and early years
The restoration of the farm began 15 years ago, when the first vines were planted on just 1 hectare. The farm was run at that time by Aurelio, the father of the current owner, Marco. In this early period, the family made wine only for themselves, pouring it into jugs.
Certification and growth
In 2003, the winery received "bio" certification, confirming that the vines are grown using organic methods only.
Today
The vineyards now cover a total of 3.5 hectares, lying at 350–600 meters above sea level on clay-limestone soils.
Terroir
The vineyards lie at 350–600 meters above sea level, on clay-limestone soils.
Vinificazione
The vines are grown using organic methods only, a practice confirmed by the "bio" certification received in 2003.
For his sparkling wines, Marco uses only the traditional "ansestrale" method. The wine Marc'Aurelio is made from Lambrusco grapes harvested on the hills belonging to Marco and Aurelio.
Filosofia
The winery describes itself as specializing in natural, organic wines. Marco names his wines for personal reasons: Znestra recalls shrubs in the woods that the wine reminds him of; Besiosa evokes something passionate and "buzzing," like a woman; and Balos is named after a "baloss," a rascal or rogue who will not leave you alone once you have taken a sip.
