Founding\nThe winery was founded by Anton Jermann, Silvio Jermann's great-grandfather.\n\n### Silvio Jermann's early career\nSilvio Jermann is regarded as an innovator in winemaking. Before his time, Friuli in northern Italy was known mainly for light, aromatic white wines that were easy to drink but attracted little interest beyond the region. He graduated from two well-known wine schools, Conegliano and the Istituto di San Michele. He then took his ideas to Canada, where he began his career, gaining a freedom to experiment that he could hardly have found back home, where winemakers closely followed conservative ideas and long-established traditions.\n\n### Return to Friuli\nIn the 1970s, Silvio returned home and inherited the winery founded by his great-grandfather, Anton Jermann. Drawing on his experience, innovative thinking and respect for tradition, he began producing some of the country's white wines, including "Vintage Tunina," "Capo Martino" and "W… Dreams," which have consistently topped Italian rankings and brought the company success and worldwide recognition.\n\n### Today\nThe Jermann estate now covers more than 150 hectares, with 130 hectares of vineyards and the remaining 20 hectares used to grow cereals for organic flour.
