Storia
Origins
More than 40 years ago, the Morini family established a small, simple winery driven by enthusiasm for country life and grape growing. Until recently, it was part of the local winemaking cooperative.
1992 – A new home for the winery
In 1992, the Morini family bought a historic house in the centre of Val di Mezzane. Built in the early 1900s and surrounded by vineyards, the house became the setting for a new winery and cellars where the wines could mature.
Today
Today, 7 brothers and cousins have inherited the estate and are working to improve and expand it. Their shared passion for grape growing led to the creation of Latium Morini, which produces Soave, Valpolicella and Amarone wines.
Terroir
The estate's 40 ha of vineyards lie between the Valpolicella and Soave areas. The vines grow across 3 nearby geographical areas, each with a distinct microclimate and soil, contributing to grapes with notable sensory qualities.
Vinificazione
The 40 ha of vineyards, spread across 3 nearby geographical areas with different microclimates and soils, yield around 6000 quintals of grapes a year.
The winery, established at the historic house bought in 1992 in Val di Mezzane, is a modern and practical facility producing up to 3000 quintals of wine a year. It is equipped with 5 modern, fully automated vats of 150 quintals capacity each, designed to keep oxidation of the developing wine to a minimum. Around 30 temperature-controlled vats of different sizes ensure proper storage of the wine during vinification. A collection of 600 oak barrels from different geographical areas helps the wines develop their individual character and reach full maturity.
Filosofia
The family describes a love of country life and a passion for growing grapes as being at the heart of Latium Morini. It states that this shared passion led the brothers and cousins to create Latium Morini, producing wines with deep roots in the area's past and history, and that the name Lazio is a reminder of ancient and distinguished roots, "like the mature wines the winery offers to wine lovers and food enthusiasts."
