Storia
1950s\nAn old Montalcino estate was established by Patrizia Cencioni's grandfather, Giuseppe Cencioni, one of the founders of the Brunello di Montalcino consortium.\n\n### 1989\nThe company was founded and its vineyards were planted, building on the roots of the earlier family estate.\n\n### Today\nThe winery is family-run, managed by owner Patrizia Cencioni together with her two daughters, Annalisa and Arianna, drawing on many years of family experience.
Terroir
The estate lies a few kilometres from the town centre of Montalcino, at around 350 metres above sea level, overlooking the Val d'Orcia. The vineyards and cellars sit on land that used to produce Brunello di Montalcino, surrounding the cellars and tasting rooms. A distinctive microclimate shelters the vines: Mount Amiata protects them from cold easterly winds, and the hills of Montalcino shield them from the north.
Vinificazione
Grapes are hand-picked. Because the vineyards are close to the fermentation cellar, the harvested grapes can be brought in with very little delay.
The wines mature slowly in oak barrels, and their finesse, elegance and each vintage's individual character continue to develop afterwards in the bottle. The estate produces Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (including a Riserva), and "Solarianne." The estate also produces Extra Virgin olive oil from its 7 ha of olive groves.
Filosofia
The family holds that good Montalcino wine is born in the vineyard and matures in the cellar, shaped by the passion of three women — Patrizia and her daughters Annalisa and Arianna. They describe their aim as bringing out the character of their land in every wine while maintaining the highest quality standards.
