Tasca Conti Almerita

In 1830 the brothers Don Lucio and Don Carmelo Mastrogiovanni Tasca purchased the former Regaleali fortress, on the border between the provinces of Palermo and Caltanissetta in the heart of Sicily. The name Regaleali comes from the Arabic "Rahal'Ali", meaning Ali's farm.

The family has been in business for more than 150 years. The text states that its love for the land, respect for tradition and focus on making quality wines have remained the same, while much else has changed. The wines are now known worldwide and regularly receive awards at competitions.

The estate lies at Regaleali in the heart of Sicily, on the border between the provinces of Palermo and Caltanissetta. Vineyards are planted at 400 to 750 m above sea level. Four man-made lakes protect the vineyards from the hot, dry sirocco wind that can sweep through Sicily in summer.

Experimental vineyards test varieties from several countries, along with new rootstocks and clones of native and international varieties. The climate allows later harvesting. Four man-made lakes shield the vines from the summer sirocco.

The winery produces 3 million bottles a year. The owners use the latest equipment in their winemaking, aiming to address tomorrow's challenges today. The estate holds that winemaking technology can only bring out what nature has already provided.
