Storia
Origins
Cantina Gallura carries on the centuries-old traditions of the winemakers of the ancient medieval principality of Gallura, whose wines made from Muscat grape varieties were known beyond the islands as early as the 19th century.
1700
Nebbiolo, a variety native to Piedmont, was brought to the area and is now cultivated by the winery's growers alongside local varieties.
1956
Cantina Gallura was founded, combining careful grape selection, modern technology and barrel aging to produce its wines.
1996
Vermentino di Gallura, the winery's flagship wine, became the only wine in Sardinia to hold DOCG status, the highest category in the Italian wine classification.
Terroir
Cantina Gallura is based in Tempio Pausania, at the foot of Mount Limbara.
Vinificazione
Growers cultivate local varieties — Vermentino, Cannonau, Moscato, Pascale and Caricagiola — together with Nebbiolo, brought from Piedmont in 1700. The winery emphasizes careful selection of grapes as part of its winemaking approach.
Cantina Gallura combines careful selection, modern technology and barrel aging to produce its wines. The winery makes three quality wines — "Karana," "Dolmen" and "Luna Nova" — from its local and Nebbiolo grapes. These new releases quickly attracted the attention of both the public and critics.
Filosofia
The winery aims to produce high-quality wines with sensory profiles that reflect consumers' changing tastes and needs.
