Dogliani
9 cantine e 7 vini. Dogliani has made Dolcetto its own. The zone sits on the western edge of the Langhe, bordering Barolo country to the north and the high Langa of hazelnuts and sheep to the south, with the Cuneo plain to the west and the Moscato hills of the Belbo valley to the east. Dogliani in breve
The landscape was carved by the Tanaro and by the Rea and its seasonal streams, leaving long and short slopes side by side; pale uplifted soils alternate with bands of sandstone and younger, heavier clays whose depth changes with every turn of the hill.
The wine is Dolcetto alone — ruby, fruity, dry with a hint of almond. The Superiore ages for at least twelve months from the fifteenth of October of the harvest year and may not be sold before the first of November of the following year. Dolcetto di Dogliani became a DOC in 1974; its Superiore was promoted to DOCG in 2005, and today the name Dogliani covers both wines.
