Storia
The description gives no founding date or estate history. It notes that Chianti was made by long-established Florentine families and successfully exported as early as the 14th century. The estate is owned by Giuseppe Losapio.
Terroir
The cellars are near Montespertoli Castle, in an area with monasteries, churches and country villas. The vineyards lie on slopes between the villages of Montespertoli and Montagnana, at 250-300 m above sea level.
Vinificazione
The cellars are located near Montespertoli Castle. The basic Chianti, Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Fiorentini mature in traditional 2000-litre casks or stainless-steel tanks. The Riserva wines are aged in 225-litre French oak barrels made with wood from the forests of Allier and Limousin. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, described as powerfully structured, are aged in new oak barrels. Chianti Riserva is aged in second-use barrels to preserve its delicate structure.
Filosofia
Giuseppe Losapio focuses on wines with a lower alcohol content, which he believes gives them a more aromatic, fruit-forward bouquet.
