Cantina d’Isera

Membership of the Cavit cooperative system

In the 2016/17 financial year, Cantina d’Isera was one of ten first-tier cooperative wineries belonging to Cavit. It represented Vallagarina alongside Cantina di Aldeno, Vivallis, Cantina Sociale Mori–Colli Zugna and Cantina Sociale di Avio.

Representation in the expanded consortium

By 2017/18, Cavit comprised eleven member wineries. Cantina d’Isera remained part of the Vallagarina group, and Silvio Rosina represented it on Cavit’s Board of Directors. At that time, Cavit’s statutes restricted board membership to presidents or directors of its member wineries, ensuring that the first-tier cooperatives participated directly in the consortium’s governance.

Continued membership

Cantina d’Isera continued to be identified as one of Cavit’s eleven associated cooperative wineries in 2020/21, 2022/23 and 2023/24. In the 2024/25 financial year, Silvio Rosina was again a Cavit director representing Cantina d’Isera. In 2026, the winery remained one of the eleven cooperatives through which Cavit represented Trentino’s five principal wine-growing areas.

Cantina d’Isera represents Vallagarina, the Adige valley sector south of Trento. Vallagarina has a moderately continental climate and a varied geological structure.

The valley floor contains sandy and silty alluvial soils. Its hills include glacial deposits as well as dolomitic and calcareous formations. Isera and Brentonico are distinguished by well-structured soils of basaltic origin, suited both to sparkling-wine bases and to red varieties.

The basaltic hills around Isera form one of Vallagarina’s principal environments for Marzemino. The local basalt has weathered into medium-depth brown soils rich in clay, including montmorillonite. The wider Marzemino area has a subcontinental climate, with cold, snowy winters and hot but ventilated summers; cool nights provide diurnal temperature variation. Isera’s basaltic sector is associated with a savoury, gentle expression of the variety, contrasting with the predominantly clay-rich, south-facing sites around Nomi, Mori and Volano.

Cantina d’Isera participates in a cooperative structure designed to preserve the identity of individual Trentino territories while sharing agronomic knowledge, research capacity and technical resources. The model combines small-scale vineyard stewardship with consortium-level precision technology and direct participation by the member wineries in Cavit’s governance.

The common agricultural approach joins rural practice with soil research, geoclimatic analysis and continual monitoring. Its stated objectives are consistent grape quality, protection of the land, reduced and more precisely targeted vineyard treatments, responsible use of water and preservation of biodiversity and the cultivated landscape.
